Delabar, Faris impress; Vandel wins

Steve Delabar falls an out shy of a no-no and Stephen Faris allows two hits in successive shutouts in a doubleheader. Pete Laforest continues to go deep and that is all he does. Sean Thompson surrendered a season-high in hits in a loss. Brent Carter is hit hard again while Brian Gils goes deep. Andrew Parrino has most of the hits for Eugene. Angel Mercado knocks in four for the AZL Padres.

Fort Wayne won 1-0 in game one over Great Lakes (Dodgers), won 6-0 in game two Steve Delabar fell one out shy of tossing a no-hitter in a shortened seven-inning game. The hit, coming with two outs in the top of the seventh, was a no doubter up the gut. The right-hander hit the first batter of the game before retiring the next 20 batters in a row.
