Padres MLN: Carrillo sees live action

Peoria, AZ-- The San Diego Padres played intrasquad games on Wednesday, pitting Low-A against Low/High-A and Double-A versus Triple-A. But there were some surprise appearances across the field and a smattering of successful outings, including Cesar Carrillo on the mound against live hitters for the first time.

Cesar Carrillo pitched an inning and allowed one baserunner but did not yield a run. He worked in his two-seam fastball and curveball – both showed movement but were up in the zone. As a teaser outing it was termed a success because he did not experience any pain, but most of his pitches were belt high and he will need to refine his location moving forward.
