Stauffer starts his Major League career with a win

San Diego Padres right-hander Tim Stauffer made his Major League debut on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds, earning the his first Major League win. The right-hander went 2-0 with a 2.33 ERA for Portland this year.

Tim Stauffer was promoted from Class AAA Portland Monday when Tim Redding went on the disabled list. He will assume Woody Williams' spot in the Padres rotation with left-hander Darrell May moving into Redding's No. 5 slot. Stauffer had a 5.65 ERA in 14 1/3 innings with the Padres this spring.
