Stauffer, Ekstrom go deep
Josh Barfield hit a walk-off three run homer with one out in the tenth inning to plate the only runs of the game. Barfield has driven in seven runs in his last two games. He had five RBI's in his previous 13 games. His 19 RBI's lead the team but he did have an error, his third of the year and all coming in his last nine games.
Tim Stauffer had the longest outing of his career – he went nine innings and allowed six hits and a walk while striking out eight. He twice went eight innings while with Mobile in 2004, the last coming on June 3. It was the second time this year that he has not allowed a run in his outing. He has given up two earned runs or fewer in four of his six starts.
Kerry Robinson extended his hitting streak to 12 games with one hit in four at bats. He also stole his PCL leading 15th base of the year. Robinson is 18-for-53 over the streak with 11 runs scored and ten stolen bases.

Michael Ekstrom had his longest outing of his career on Thursday, going eight innings and allowing one run on five hits. Ekstrom had never gone more than six innings in any start. The right-hander has allowed one run or less in four of his six starts and three earned runs or less in every start this year. He is holding the opposition to a .219 batting average against.
Peter Ciofrone went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI's. It is his third extra base hit in four games after not netting an extra base in his first 16. Ciofrone has knocked in six runs over the past four games. He had just six extra base hits in 42 games with Fort Wayne last season.
Matt Varner saved his ninth consecutive games over nine appearances. He has not allowed a run in seven straight and has allowed three hits over his past seven outings. Varner leads the Midwest League with his nine saves and is tied with two Eastern League closers for the overall Minor League lead in the category.
