He spent the 2004 season in the Arizona Rookie League where his stats weren't inspiring. He went 2-6 with a 6.95 ERA and a WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) of 1.94. His best outing was in his longest stint of the year, a five inning start, where he allowed two runs on one hit and three walks and struck out eight.
