Portland Beavers hit barrage; Josh Barfield first

All four Portland pitchers allowed two runs or more, including Sterling Hitchcock, but the opposition allowed even more. Gabe Ribas had his another strong outing and it turned out to be his best of the year. Josh Barfield had a first in BayBear history. The Wizards were two-hit and David Mead served up the first homer he has allowed en route to his worst outing of the year. Errors proved costly to the Ems as Joel Santo was victimized. Matt Bush had a night of two's and most were positive.

The Padres lost prospect Tagg Bozied for the rest of the 2004 season Monday (July 19) when he ruptured the patellar tendon in his right knee while celebrating a walk-off grand slam with Triple-A Portland.
