Among the first players to greet David Wells at the Padres' spring training camp was another balding…
Everyone is Signed!
Infielders Khalil Greene, Ramon Vazquez and Bernie Castro, outfielders Freddy Guzman and Henri Stanley, and catchers Humberto Quintero and Tom Wilson also signed Tuesday.
"We signed everybody. We had no renewals," general manager Kevin Towers said.
The Padres have now signed or agreed to terms with all 40 players currently on their 40-man roster.
Rain was again a factor on Tuesday at Peoria Sports Complex, as San Diego Padres pitchers were unable to throw live batting practice due to light showers during the 10th day of training camp.
Coming off back surgery, left-handed pitcher David Wells threw off a mound for the first time today. It marked his first appearance on the mound since leaving after the first inning in Game 5 of the 2003 World Series on October 23, 2003.
"I've spent a long time waiting for this day," said Wells. "It was good to get out there, make my pitches and follow through with no pain. I threw all my pitches at about 45-50 percent while going through the motions. The good thing is that I didn't compensate in any way, so that was a good sign. Now we just turn the page and look forward to next time."
