Dodgers Shutout Padres, 6-0

The San Diego Padres were shutout by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday. Padre pitching gave up three more homers, all solo shots, in a 6-0 loss. Rookie mistakes cost the team two of the other three runs.

Shawn Green connected off Jarvis in the first inning to start the scoring off. Little did anyone know it was all Wilson Alvarez needed to get the win.

Alvarez (5-1) threw a four-hit shutout while striking out seven and walking on to earn the complete game win. Alvarez has allowed only six earned runs in his past seven starts.

Adrian Beltre, who hit a pair of homers at Colorado last Friday, homered off Kevin Jarvis (4-8) in the second inning and Brandon Villafuerte in the eighth. Both were solo shots and gave Beltre 20 on the season.

Dave Roberts' RBI double to left-center in the fifth made it 3-0, and the Dodgers added a pair of unearned runs when shortstop Khalil Greene booted Beltre's bases-loaded grounder for what should have been the third out.

The ball scooted some 20 feet behind Greene, and one run scored.

Greene was slow to retrieve the ball and it cost the team again. It allowed Roberts to score all the way from second base.

San Diego 3B Sean Burroughs turned 23 and celebrated with his eleventh error of the season.

Greene was one of four Padres to get a hit, but he was caught stealing second.

Xavier Nady, Brian Giles and Mark Loretta were the only other Friars to have hits, or get on base at all.

Mark Kotsay sat out Friday's game. Bochy said that Kotsay is fine and that he needed to get Nady into the lineup.

Moving from right to center field was Gary Matthews Jr. and getting the call in right was Xavier Nady.
