EUGENE - Going into this year’s draft one of the Padres’ big goals was to take more quality bats if the opportunity presented itself.

In the fourth round of the 2014 draft they selected Nick Torres, of Cal Poly Pomona, a powerful six-foot -one, 215 lbs. corner outfielder who was considered by many one of the better pure hitters in the draft.
