PEACH JAM: Blakeney targets fall decision

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- One of the elite shooting guards in the 2015 class says he's still targeting a fall decision despite a wave of new scholarship offers his recent play has produced.

Kentucky and North Carolina joined the mix for five-star Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge product Antonio Blakeney this summer. The 6-foot-4 wing was already receiving heavy interest from programs like Florida, Louisville, LSU, Miami and Florida State, among others.

"I wasn't waiting on a Kentucky offer or anything like that, but of course it was a blessing," Blakeney said after E1T1's first game in the EYBL Finals at Peach Jam. "Coach Cal only offers pros, and in order for him to offer me, he must think I'm a pro. That's always been my goal."

Blakeney said he hasn't decided which schools he wants to visit this fall, but "(UK) will definitely be one that I'll think about."

Asked what Calipari has told him about his game, Blakeney said: "He said he likes the way I score the ball, he likes my legs and my energy, and my competitiveness in the game."

This fall should be a busy one for Blakeney as he continues to target an early decision. He says he's just looking for the best fit for his skills and that location won't be a factor in the final choice.

"I just want to see who's recruiting me the hardest and who's making me their top priority," Blakeney said.

Blakeney is currently ranked the No. 5 shooting guard in the senior class and No. 20 overall by Scout.

"Antonio Blakeney's ability to score is what sticks out the most about this game," Scout national basketball analyst Evan Daniels said.

"He's an aggressive scorer that has really improved his ability to attack defenders off the dribble. He has a consistent mid-range pull-up and is a good long-range shooter. Blakeney is an explosive athlete that finishes well at the rim and in transition. He'll need to get stronger and spruce up his decision making, but he's one of the top shooting guards in 2015."
