MadFriars' Daily Farm Report July 3

El Paso splits their series with the Isotopes while San Antonio implodes. The Storm win their fifth in a row while the TinCaps drop their sixth in a row. The Ems get another good pitching performance and the wind wins in the AZL.

Chihuahuas 7 - Albuquerque Isotopes 6

Key Statistics:CF Rico Noel 2-5, RBI; SS Tyler Greene 2-4; LF Jonathan Galvez 2-4, HR (7), RBI; C Rocky Gale 2-4, RBI; RHP Chris Smith 5.0 IP 5 H 3 R 3 ER 2 BB 6 Ks; RHP Branch Kloess (BS, 2) (W, 3-3) 1.1 IP 3 H; RHP Hector Ambriz (S,8) 1.0 IP K.

Prospect Watch:The Chihuahuas scored early and hung on to split their series with the Isotopes...Rocky Gale has always been considered one of the best defensive catchers in the organization with a "but" if only he could hit a little more. This year he is having his best offensive season of his career hitting .304/.355/.373...OF Reymond Fuentes re-joined El Paso after hitting .324/.386/.453 with San Antonio. He flew out to center in a pinch-hitting appearance last night...Jonathan Galvez was named to the PCL All-Star squad...Closer Hector Ambriz's statistics on the year 30 strikeouts in 42 innings against 36 hits and seven walks.

Tulsa Drillers 6 - San Antonio 4 10 innings

Key Statistics:3B/1B Adam Buschini 2-6, 3B; 2B Cory Spangenberg 3-5, 2B; CF Rymer Liriano 2-5, 2B, RBI; 1B/LF Cody Overbeck 3-5; SS Brian Bixler 2-5; RHP Leonel Campos 4.2 IP H BB 8 Ks; RHP Luis De La Cruz (L, 3-6) 1.0 IP 2 R ER 3 BB.

Prospect Watch:The Drillers scored two runs in the tenth inning to win the game without getting a hit. Reliever Luis De La Cruz started off the inning with a pair of walks, never a good sign and especially with a tie game in extra innings. It was followed by a sacrifice bunt which put runners on second and third and then followed by a wild pitch and another walk. C Robert Kral then allowed a passed ball for the second run of the inning. The Missions went down in order to end the game in the bottom of the inning...Cory Spangenberg had his second solid game since coming back to AA...After having a big May, Rymer Liriano had a tough June at .235/.290/.347 but is off to a good start in July with three hits in his first eight at-bats.

For further reading on the San Antonio Missions, see the San Antonio Express-News.

Storm 9 - Inland Empire 66ers 3

Key StatisticsCF Mallex Smith 1-3, BB, 3 SB (7); 2B Benji Gonzalez 2-4, HR (2), 3 RBI; SS Diego Goris 2-5, HR (12), 2 RBI; C Dane Phillips 2-5, RBI; DH Luis Domoromo 2-3, 2 2B, RBI; RF Jeremy Baltz 1-3, BB; LF Corey Adamson 1-3, BB; RHP Coby Cowgil (W, 2-1) 5.0 IP 6 H 2 R 2 ER 2 BB 4 Ks HR.

Prospect Watch:The Storm have now won five in a row despite losing their best player in Hunter Renfroe to San Antonio. A big reason has been the performance of Luis Domoromo, who had a pair of doubles tonight...How much does Mallex Smith like to run? He has six stolen bases in the past two games and has yet to be caught...Cody Cowgill bounced back from a tough start in Lancaster, but then again everyone has to bounce back from starts in Lancaster...The Storm are getting big offensive production up the middle from 2B Benji Gonzalez at .288/.368/.440 and SS Diego Goris .324/.345/.526.

Dayton Dragons 3 - TinCaps 1

Key Statistics:RF Franmil Reyes 2-4; LHP Jeffery Enloe (L,0-2) 5.0 IP 5 H 2 R BB 3 Ks; LHP Payton Baskette 2.0 IP 2 H R ER BB 4 Ks.

Prospect WatchThe TinCaps ended their road trip by dropping their sixth game in a row. As has been the case all season, three errors in the game without any offense is not the blueprint for success....The one bright spot of the day was a good start by lefty Jeffery Enloe in his third game with Fort Wayne.

For further reading on the TinCaps, see the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette.

Emeralds 6 - Spokane Indians 1

Key Statistics:2B Jalen Goree 2-4, 2 RBI, BB; 1B Marcus Davis 1-3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB; CF Auston Bousfield 1-3, BB; LF Yale Rosen 0-2, 2 BB; 3B Chase Jensen 2-4; C Michael Miller 1-3, 2 RBI, BB; RHP Adrian De Horta (W, 1-1) 5.0 IP 5 H R ER 3 BB K.

Prospect WatchThe Emeralds won their second game in a row behind another solid start by Adrian De Horta. De Horta, who began the year in Fort Wayne, is starting to find his command and has allowed only one earned run in three of his four starts in Eugene...OF/1B Marcus Davis has a 15/20 BB/K ratio for a .421 on-base-percentage...The Emeralds should have a very good outfield this season and they are still waiting for their final piece with Nick Torres, their fourth round pick out of Cal Poly-San Louis Obispo who is currently in the AZL. Torres should be joining the Ems shortly.

For further reading on the Emeralds, see the Eugene Register-Guard.

The AZL Padres and AZL Cubs game was suspended because of wind at the end of the third inning with the Padres up 5-3.
