Prospect Watch: Well it seems like a safe assumption that El Paso may be a bit of a hitter's park as the Chihuahuas rapped out 18 hits, six of them for extra-bases as they got their first home victory in the new stadium...It's kind of hard to believe that Kyle Blanks with eight home runs and 1.027 OPS couldn't help the Padres‘ offense in some way...Sometimes it seems no matter how hard the organization tries to bury Cody Decker on the bench he always does something to worm his way out; like hit. All of the personality and social media stuff aside he did finish last year with 19 home runs, which was second in the organization, and 70 RBI, which was good enough for fifth, with sporadic playing time. It might be nice to see what he could do with regular at-bats... Tommy Medica had his first start in left field tonight...A nice night for two former Padres' farmhands. Big Nate Freiman was 2-4 with a home run and SS Andy Parrino was 2-3 and walked.

Missions 8 - Frisco RoughRiders 3
Key Statistics: 2B Casey McElroy 1-3, 2 BBs; 1B Jason Hagerty 2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB; RHP Jesse Hahn 3.0 IP 5 H 3 R 3 ER 3 K; RHP John Hussey (W, 1-0) 3.0 IP K; RHP Dennis O'Grady 2.0 IP H 3 Ks; RHP Adys Portillo 1.0 IP BB K.Prospect Watch: San Antonio scored early and its dominant bullpen was able to survive a shaky start by Jesse Hahn as they didn't allow any runs after the second inning...Despite the Missions‘ offensive woes one player that has really been performing is Jason Hagerty who hit his third home run tonight. Drafted as a catcher out of the University of Miami in the fifth round of the 2009 draft had some big years in A ball before enduring two injury plagued years in 2012 and 2013. The Padres have put the switch-hitter at first and he has been producing with a .320/.424/.560 line in 59 plate appearances.
Inland Empire 66ers 8 - Storm 4-
Key Statistics 2B Reynaldo Bruguera 2-5; 3B Gabriel Quintana 2-4, 2 RBI, BB; LF Luis Domoromo 2-4; C John Nester 2-4; RHP Ruben Mejia (L, 2-2) 5.0 IP 9 H 7 R 6 ER 3 BB 3 Ks HR; LHP Chris Nunn 2.0 IP H R ER 2 BB 2 Ks.
Prospect Watch: The 66ers were up 6-0 at the end of two innings and never looked back...Not a big night for the Storm although they should be a little concerned with the whiffs as Quintana (41) and Renfroe (41) are numbers two and three in the Cal League in strikeouts and one off of the leader.

South Bend Silver Hawks 10 -TinCaps 3
Key Statistics CF Mallex Smith 1-4, 3B, BB; DH Fernando Perez 2-5, 2B, HR (3); c Ryan Miller 1-2, HR (1), RBI; 1B Jake Bauers 3-4; LF Henry Charles 1-3, BB; RHP Walker Weickel (L, 1-4) 5.2 IP 12 H 9 R 9 ER 2 BB 5 K 2 HRs.
Prospect Watch: The Silver Hawks scored in seven of the nine innings and put up crooked numbers in four of them as Fort Wayne fell to five games under .500...Last year Weickel gave up seven earned runs three times and today he beat that by giving up nine. He was a first round supplemental pick in the 2012 draft and the tall Floridian is a better pitcher than his 7.81 ERA indicates...Fernando Perez is swinging at about everything with three walks in 105 plate appearances and so far it hasn't been a bad thing with a .343/.364/.539 line. His 14 extra-base hits leads the team and has seen time at second, third and first...Jake Bauers didn't make the opening day TinCaps roster and so far he's doing a pretty good job of proving that someone made a mistake with his second straight three hit day and a .429 batting average in his first six games. Equally as important for a team that is averaging a little over two errors a game, he has been flawless in the field.
