MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: April 28

El Paso loses a tough one in the top of the thirteenth but the bats wake up in San Antonio. Lake Elsinore wins their fourth in a row but the TinCaps blow up in the sixth.

Fresno Grizzlies 2 - Chihuahuas 1 13 innings

Key Statistics:

C Adam Moore 2-5, BB; 1B Cody Decker 2-6, 2B; LF Travis Buck 1-3, HR(1), RBI, 2 BBs; :HP Jason Lane 6.0 IP 7 H R ER; RHP Tim Sexton (L, 0-1) 4.0 IP 3 H R K.

Prospect Watch: The Chihuahuas lost their debut game at Southwest University Park in El Paso as an error by second baseman Brooks Conrad in the top of the thirteenth inning put a runner on second base and the subsequent batter doubled him home for the game winning run....Jason Lane has been El Paso's best starter this season and had another good night. Aside from one bad start in Las Vegas, maybe the worst park to pitch in professional baseball, Lane have given up one earned run or less in four starts, all of which went at least six innings....Catcher Adam Moore has proven to be a nice pick-up that the Padres got from the Royals and is hitting .324/.387/.441.

For further reading on the El Paso Chihuahuas, see the El Paso Times.

Missions 6 - Midland Rockhounds 4 -

Key Statistics:.2B Casey McElroy 3-5; CF Rymer Liriano 1-3, BB; 1B Jason Hagerty 3-5, 2B; RF Yeison Ascencio 3-5, 2B; RHP James Needy 3.0 IP BB 2 Ks; LHP Frank Garces (W, 1-1) 1.1 IP 2 Ks; RHP Jerry Sullivan (S,1) 1.0 IP

Prospect Watch: MadFriars was in San Antonio last night. Please read our game story for an account of the game.

Storm 4 - Visalia Rawhide 3

Key Statistics LF Luis Domoromo 2-2, 2BBs; DH Corey Adamson 1-3, HR(3) 3 RBIs, BB; RF Hunter Renfroe 1-3, 2B; RHP Bryan Rodriguez 5.0 IP 6 H 3 R 2 ER BB 6Ks; RHP (W, 1-2) Trevor Gott 1.0 IP H.

Prospect Watch: The Storm won their fourth game in a row behind a big three-run home run by Corey Adamson in the second inning and another strong pitching performance by Bryan Rodriguez. Rodriguez has gone at least five innings in all of his starts and has only given up two or more earned runs once...Adamson has been in a bit of a slump recently, but his overall numbers are still good and it looks like the left-handed hitting Aussie is starting to develop some power.

For further reading on the Storm please see the Southwest Riverside News Network.

Great Lakes Loons 7 -TinCaps 3

Key Statistics 3B Fernando Perez 2-4; 1B Jake Bauers 2-4, 3B; RHP Bryan Verbitsky 5.0 IP 5 H 2 R 2 ER 2 BB 6Ks; RHP Justin Livengood (BS, 1) (L, 0-1) 1.0 IP 4 H 4 R 4 ER BB K.

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps imploded in the sixth inning wrecking a nice outing by starter Bryan Verbitsky. Verbitsky was a third round pick out of Hofstra University last year was up and down last season in Eugene with his command but did strike out 47 in 49.1 innings...Nowhere where they put him Fernando Perez continues to hit at .318/.330/.459 but you would like to see a few more walks than two in 87 plate appearances...1B Jake Bauers got his first hit in the Midwest League with a two-RBI triple and followed it up with a single. Defensively he may be a little active with some of the throws from the left side of the infield, but since he played with all of those guys last year in the AZL he is probably used to it by now.

For further reading on the TinCaps, see the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette.
