MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: April 12

Justin Hancock with the Storm last year.

Justin Hancock twirled a gem in San Antonio and the TinCaps won in extra innings after tying up the game in the ninth. Some tough nights in Tucson (El Paso's temporary "home") and at Lake Elsinore.

Reno Aces 11 - Chihuahuas 1

Key Statistics: RF Travis Buck 1-1; SS Jake Lemmerman 1-3, 2B, RBI; RHP Burch Smith (L, 0-2) 2.1 IP 9H 7 R 7 ER 2 BB 2 Ks 2 HRs.

Prospect Watch: Back-to-back home runs in the third inning sent Burch Smith into the clubhouse early as he had his second straight bad outing in AAA. Last season for the T-Pads Smith gave up 23 earned runs in 61.0 innings. So far this season with El Paso he has given up 11 earned runs in 5.1 innings...Cameron Maybin was 0-3 with three strikeouts on the second night of his rehab assignment...MadFriars' favorite filmmaker Cody Decker was a defensive replacement at third base in the top of the ninth, his first time at that position as a pro.. Just a rough night.

Prospect Watch:When Hancock is on this is what he will look like; scattering hits and getting the opposition to pound the ball into the ground. He opened the game with four straight ground outs...Peterson reached base four out of five times...Barbato is adjusting well to the closer's role with seven strikeouts in seven games against only a single walk as the opposition is hitting only .091 against him.

Lancaster Jethawks 7 - Storm 2

Key Statistics2B Casey McElroy 1-3, 2B, BB, RBI; RF Hunter Renfroe 1-2, 2 BB; 3B Gabriel Quintana 1-4, 2B, RBI; RHP Bryan Rodriguez (L, 0-1) 5.0 IP 7 H 5 R 4 ER 2 BB 3 Ks.

Prospect Watch: A very rough night in the field as the Storm had six errors, three of them by catcher Jeremy Rodriguez...Nice to see Casey McElroy have a decent night after missing all of last year with injuries...Alberth Martiniez went hitless for only the second time all season...Hunter Renfroe now has 17 strikeouts in 10 games but did walk twice tonight. He really does have a world of talent but everyone also must remember this is really his first full year of pro ball, so there will be some adjustment time.
