Noel brings his speed to San Antonio

PEORIA, AZ: Rico Noel, 24, was taken in the fifth round of the 2010 draft by the San Diego Padres out of Coastal Carolina. Starting his fourth year with the organization Noel biggest assets are his plus speed and defensive ability which allows him to play all three outfield positions.

Last season with the Storm he hit .270/.357/.305 while stealing 90 bases; which ironically with Billy Hamilton (104) also in the league was only good enough for second place. The most impressive aspect of Rico's year in the Cal League was that it was his first season ever as a switch-hitter, which is rather a late start for any player.
