Liriano was named a postseason All-Star in the Arizona Rookie League. He ended the year second in the league in homers and third in RBI and hits, and fifth in average. Liriano had a team-high 14 game hitting streak during the year.

Rymer Liriano hit .350 across 50 games with the AZL Padres. He went 69-for-197 with eight doubles, a triple, eight homers, 44 runs scored and 44 RBI. He posted a .398 on-base percentage with a 15-to-52 walk-to-strikeout ratio while getting hit by two pitches. He stole 14 bases in 19 attempts and committed eight errors in the field. He hit .413 with runners in scoring position and grounded into six double plays.

2008

Liriano went 46-for-232 across 67 games for the DSL Padres. He hit .198 with 13 doubles, a triple and a team-record nine homers. Liriano also scored 34 runs and notched a team-leading 37 RBIs. He drew 28 walks compared to 106 strikeouts and stole nine bases in 14 attempts.
