Everett Williams Profile

The San Diego Padres have come to terms with second-round pick Everett Williams, the 52nd overall selection out of McCallum High School in Austin, Texas.

Williams, ranked as a first-round talent on most boards, hit .462 this past season and had 36 homers, 173 RBI and 73 steals during his high school career.

“He could be a corner outfielder with power and the defensive instincts of a center fielder,” said Padres scouting director Chief Gayton on draft day.

“We had Williams much higher on our board,” Pares vice president of scouting and player development Grady Fuson said after he was drafted. “When he fell to our spot in the second round, he was far too good to pass up.”
