Matt Vern hit .237 across 54 games with the Eugene Emeralds. He went 49-for-207 with six doubles, five triples, four homers, 27 runs scored and 24 RBI. He posted a .306 on-base percentage with a 15-to-71 walk-to-strikeout ratio while getting hit by six pitches. He stole seven bases in eight attempts and committed five errors in the field. He hit .213 with runners in scoring position in 61 at-bats and grounded into six double plays. Vern was tied for second in the Northwest League in triples.
Notes:
Matt Vern was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 13th-round of the 2009 MLB Draft, 384th overall.
He had a career year as a senior, leading the team with 17 home runs, 54 runs driven in, 16 stolen bases and a .360 batting average. He was named first-team all-Mountain West as a senior.
For his career, Vern was a .309 hitter in 199 games played with 29 home runs, 143 RBIs and 50 doubles, a total that ranks third all-time in school history.
