Nick Schumacher went 6-0 with a 1.11 ERA across 37 games with the Fort Wayne TinCaps. In 56.2 innings, he allowed 47 hits, walked 14 and struck out 55. He held the opposition to a .226 average. The opposition stole two bases off him in four attempts. He allowed one homer, hit five batters, tossed one wild pitch, and induced two double play grounders. He stranded 8-of-13 inherited runners. The opposition hit .152 off him in 46 at-bats with runners in scoring position.
2008
Schumacher went 2-0 with a 3.60 ERA across five games with the AZL Padres. In 10 innings he allowed 10 hits, did not walk a batter and struck out nine.
Schumacher went 2-2 with a 4.15 ERA with one save across 20 games with the Eugene Emeralds. In 30.1 innings he allowed 29 hits, eight walks and struck out 29. He allowed three homers and induced three double play grounders while holding the opposition to a .254 average.

The San Diego Padres selected Nick Schumacher in the 28th-round of the 2008 MLB Draft.
He went 13-2 with a 2.36 ERA for the Wildcats this season. Schumacher was tied with five other pitchers for the most wins by a NCAA Division II pitcher this season and set a new single season record for wins at WSC, breaking the old mark of 11 set by Nate Miller in 2004. He closed out his WSC career with a record of 30-9, matching the school record for career wins held by Brady Borner (1998-2001). In 91.2 innings pitched this season, Schumacher allowed just 75 hits and 30 runs (24 earned) with 96 strikeouts.
