Biography:
2009

Mitch Canham hit .263 across 111 games with the San Antonio Missions. He went 107-for-407 with 20 doubles, three triples, six homers, 48 runs scored and 53 RBI. He posted a .339 on-base percentage with a 46-to-68 walk-to-strikeout ratio. He stole five bases in nine attempts and committed nine errors in the field. He hit .265 in 136 at-bats with runners in scoring position and grounded into eight double plays. Canham threw out 28-of-127 runners attempting to steal, good for 22 percent.

2008

Canham hit .285 with 119 hits in 417 at-bats with the Lake Elsinore Storm. He collected 28 doubles, five triples, eight homers, 65 runs scored, and 81 RBIs. He also drew 66 walks compared to 73 strikeouts while stealing 13 bases in 14 attempts. Canham threw out 30-of-161 base runners attempting to steal, good for 18.6 percent.

2007

Canham hit .293 with 50 hits in 179 at bats for the Eugene Emeralds. In 28 games he had four doubles, a triple, two homers, 18 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He drew 11 walks compared to 35 strikeouts and stole five bases in seven attempts. He threw out 10-of-32 baserunners from behind the dish.

Canham went 0-for-7 with an RBI over two games with the Lake Elsinore Storm. He also went 0-for-1 for the Storm in the playoffs.

Mitch Canham was taken by the San Diego Padres in the supplemental first round of the 2007 MLB Draft, 57th overall.

Canham, out of Oregon State University, batted .326 (74-for-227) with 13 doubles, a triple, 10 home runs, 59 RBI and 52 runs scored in 65 games for the College World Series Champion Beavers in 2007. The catcher was Oregon State’s 2006-07 Pacific-10 Conference Medal winner, awarded annually to each member institution’s outstanding female and male student-athlete based on the combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership. Canham, who majored in business at Oregon State, was also a first-team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America selection, a Pac-10 All-Academic first-team honoree and the recipient of the Pacific-10 Sportsmanship Award. A native of Lake Stevens, WA, he was named to the Louisville Slugger All-America Baseball squad as a third-team selection.
