2006
Mike Ekstrom went 3-7 with a 3.84 ERA over 14 starts for the Mobile BayBears. In 84.1 innings he allowed 87 hits, walked 19 and struck out 49 while tossing five wild pitches. The opposition hit .261 off him, .231 with RISP.
Mike Ekstrom was named to the California League All-Star team in 2006, representing the Lake Elsinore Storm. He was promoted to the Mobile BayBears after going 7-4 with a 2.30 ERA over 14 starts. In 82.1 innings he allowed 76 hits, walked 21 and struck out 68. The opposition hit .251 off him.
2005
Ekstrom went 13-6 with a 3.70 ERA in 28 starts for the Fort Wayne Wizards. In 167.2 innings he allowed 167 hits and 36 walks while striking out 112.
2004
Ekstrom began the 2004 year with Eugene and went 3-1 with a 3.69 ERA. He was promoted to Fort Wayne and made his first start on August 27. He made three starts and went 0-2 with a 8.16 ERA.
Notes:
Selected in the 12th round from Point Loma Nazarene University after his junior year. Went 12-5 for the Sea Lions with a 1.96 ERA and struck out 128 batters in 133 1/3 innings pitched. Shared the Golden State Athletic Conference player of the year honors after going 9-2 with a 1.58 ERA in conference play. Prepped at Barlow High School in Gresham and played his first two seasons at Oregon State.
