Biography:
2009

Jaff Decker hit .299 across 104 games with the Fort Wayne TinCaps. He went 107-for-358 with 25 doubles, two triples, 16 homers, 78 runs scored and 64 RBI. He posted a .442 on-base percentage with an 85-to-92 walk-to-strikeout ratio. He stole 10 bases in 16 attempts and committed five errors in the field. He hit .250 in 108 at-bats with runners in scoring position and grounded into six double plays. Decker lead the Midwest League in on-base percentage – 37 points higher than the next closest competitor – placed second with a .514 slugging percentage and was ninth in the Midwest League in batting average. His 29-game on-base streak was the sixth best mark in the circuit. Decker was named the team’s co-MVP. Decker placed 12th in the entire minor leagues in walks drawn. He also placed second in the entire minor leagues in OBP.

2008

Jaff Decker was named the MVP of the Arizona Rookie League and a post-season All-Star.

Decker went 56-for-159 across 49 games with the AZL Padres. He hit .352 with 11 doubles, two triples, five homers, 51 runs scored and 34 RBIs. He also drew 55 walks compared to 36 strikeouts and stole nine bases in 10 attempts.

Decker was second in the league in average, first in on-base percentage (.523), walks and runs scored, and fifth in slugging percentage (.541).

Decker hit .200 with two hits in 10 at-bats across three games with the Eugene Emeralds, scoring twice while netting two walks compared to five strikeouts.

Notes:

Decker, the 42nd overall pick out of Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria, Arizona, was the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year after hitting .565 with 17 home runs, 53 RBI, 56 runs scored and 21 stolen bases this season. A left-handed batter and thrower, he also went 9-1 on the mound with a 1.02 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 68.2 innings en route to being named the West Valley Baseball Player of the Year. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Decker finished his high school career with a .537 average.
