Biography:
2008

Woodard went 3-4 with a 3.25 ERA across 27 games, including five starts, with the Fort Wayne Wizards. In 72 innings he allowed 61 hits, walked 14, and struck out 58. Woodard held the opposition to a .231 average.

Woodard went 0-0 with a 2.43 ERA and across 15 games, including one start, with the Lake Elsinore Storm. In 29.2 innings he allowed 19 hits, nine walks and struck out 25. He allowed five homers and induced one double play grounder while holding the opposition to a .179 average.

Woodard went 0-1 with a 27.00 ERA across one start with the Portland Beavers, giving up nine hits and a walk while striking out four in 3.1 innings.

2007

Woodard went 3-2 with two saves and a 3.89 ERA over 23 games for the Eugene Emeralds. In 34.2 innings he allowed 33 hits, walked 11 and struck out 40.

Woodard went 0-1 with a 15.00 ERA in two spot appearances for the Portland Beavers. In three innings he allowed four hits and two walks while striking out three.

The San Diego Padres selected Robert Woodard in the 20th-round of the 2007 MLB Draft out of North Carolina.

He went 11-2 with a 3.30 ERA (42 ER/114.2 IP) in 19 games (18 starts) in 2007, helping to lead the Tar Heels to their second straight College World Series finals appearance. He compiled 84 strikeouts compared to 28 walks. Woodard became the winningest pitcher in UNC history this season and finished his career with a 34-5 record. A native of Charlotte, NC, he also garnered second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors in 2007.
