Woodard went 3-2 with two saves and a 3.89 ERA over 23 games for the Eugene Emeralds. In 34.2 innings he allowed 33 hits, walked 11 and struck out 40.

He went 11-2 with a 3.30 ERA (42 ER/114.2 IP) in 19 games (18 starts) in 2007, helping to lead the Tar Heels to their second straight College World Series finals appearance. He compiled 84 strikeouts compared to 28 walks. Woodard became the winningest pitcher in UNC history this season and finished his career with a 34-5 record.
