Estes went 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA over four games, including two starts, with the Portland Beavers. In 7.1 innings he allowed 13 hits, walked three and struck out three, allowing three homers. Estes agreed to terms with the San Diego Padres on minor league contract on January 13, 2007.

2006

Estes, 33, made one start for the Padres in 2006 before suffering a strained left elbow, which later required "Tommy John" surgery. In his lone appearance, he allowed three runs in six innings in a loss against the Giants.
