Latos went 1-4 with a 3.83 ERA over 16 games, including 13 starts, with the Eugene Emeralds. In 56.1 innings he allowed 58 hits, walked 22 and struck out 74. He also tossed eight wild pitches and allowed just one homer.
Notes:
Mat Latos was signed by the San Diego Padres as a draft-and-follow from the 2006 MLB Draft. He received $1.25 million after spending the year at Broward Community College.
Latos went 10-3 with a 2.03 ERA (17 ER/75.1 IP) for Broward (FL) Community College in 2007. A 6-6, 216-pound freshman from Margate, Florida, he compiled 102 strikeouts compared to 17 walks over 75.1 innings, yielding 58 hits. Latos was originally selected by the Padres out of Coconut Creek (FL) High School and signed as a draft-and-follow. |
