Contreras hit .309 with 60 hits in 194 at-bats with the Lake Elsinore Storm. He collected 10 doubles, four triples, 22 runs scored, and 27 RBIs. He also drew 21 walks compared to 36 strikeouts while stealing 10 bases in 15 attempts.

2007

Contreras hit .276 with 74 hits in 268 at bats for the Fort Wayne Wizards. In 73 games he had 12 doubles, two triples, seven homers, 26 runs scored and 37 RBIs. He drew 22 walks compared to 53 strikeouts and stole seven bases in 13 attempts. He committed 31 errors between second (11), third (61) and shortstop (1). His season ended prematurely to injury.

2006

Rayner Contreras began the year with the Fort Wayne Wizards where he hit .105 with four hits in 38 at bats over 12 games before being sent down to extended spring training on June 10.

Contreras then went on to lead the Arizona Rookie League in RBI's with 52 over 44 games. He hit .316 witht he AZL Padres, going 54-for-171 with nine doubles, three triples, two homers and 36 runs scored. He drew 20 walks, struck out 34 times and was 4-for-6 in stolen base attempts. Contreras hit .427 with runners in scoring position.

Contreras went 2-for-5 in the Championship game for the AZL Padres.

Rayner Contreras was signed as a free agent on January 2, 2004. He hit .267 with 41 RBI's over 81 games in the Dominican Summer League in 2004 and 2005.
