Bass went 2-2 with a 8.06 ERA across 50 games with the Portland Beavers. In 63.2 innings he allowed 86 hits, 38 walks and struck out 56. He allowed nine homers and induced six double play grounders while holding the opposition to a .322 average.

The Padres signed Bass as a minor league six-year free agent in November, 2007.
Bass went 3-1 with a 2.16 ERA over 19 games, including four starts, for Triple-A Tucson in 2007. In 50 innings he struck out 35 and walked 16 while holding the opposition to a .230 average. He is a former 10th-round pick out of the University of Alabama-Huntsville |
