Handley went 1-1 with a 4.34 ERA over 15 games for the Fort Wayne Wizards. In 18.2 innings he allowed 12 hits, walked 16 and struck out 14.
Handley went 1-0 with a 0.77 ERA over 10 games for the Lake Elsinore Storm. In 11.2 innings he allowed three hits, walked nine and struck out 11.
Handley went 0-1 with a 10.71 ERA over 20 games with the Eugene Emeralds. In 21 innings he allowed 29 hits, walked 21 and struck out 19.
2006
Matt Handley went 2-0 with three saves and a 2.36 ERA over 20 appearances for the AZL Padres. In 26.2 innings he allowed 15 hits, walked six and struck out 32. He held the opposition to a .163 average and a .125 mark with runners in scoring position. Handley placed third in the Arizona Rookie League in appearances.
Handley allowed one hit in 1.1 innings in the Championship game, striking out three. He was called up to the Eugene Emeralds on September 1, 2006. He went 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA over 3.1 innings for the EMs.

Handley went 0-4 with a 7.34 ERA in 11 appearances, including eight starts in 2006. In 41.2 innings he allowed 51 hits walked 17 and struck out 33.
2005
Handley made 30 appearances, including eight starts, as a junior. He finished the year with a 2.89 ERA, one win, three losses and one save in 53 innings pitched. Matt allowed only nine earned runs in his eight starts (1.93 ERA). He was the starter of the team’s only shutout of the season, allowing three hits in five innings while combining with four other pitchers to beat Samford 1-0. |
