Cruz hit .168 with 26 hits in 155 at bats for the Portland Beavers. In 45 games he collected 10 doubles, a triple, five homers, 15 runs scored and 17 RBIs. He drew nine walks compared to 24 strikeouts.
Cruz hit .250 with two runs scored and five RBIs over seven Missions playoff games.
Cruz was taken off the 40-man roster during the 2007 season.
2006
He was added to the Padres 40-man roster at the end of the 2006 season.
Luis Cruz hit .261 with 130 hits in 499 at bats over 130 games with the Mobile BayBears. He notched 35 doubles, three triples, 12 homers, 65 runs scored and 65 RBI's. He also drew 29 walks, whiffed 62 times and was 8-for-12 in stolen base attempts.
Cruz was slated to go to the Arizona Fall League but the Padres were unable to gain permission from Mexico - which holds his rights for Winter Ball.
2005
Cruz hit .159 with two doubles, a triple and a homer in 44 games for the Mobile BayBears. He spent a large part of the year playing in the Mexican League.
2004
His bat came alive this year. He batted .278 with eight homers, 34 doubles and 72 RBI's. He hit .306 with runners in scoring position. His defense was his weakest point with 12 errors in one 21 game stretch and five multi-error games on the year. He is just 20 years old.
