Cedric Hunter hit .371 with 79 hits in 213 at bats over 52 games for the AZL Padres. He had 13 doubles, four triples, one homer and 44 RBI's while scoring 46 runs. He also drew 40 walks and struck out 22 times. He stole 17 bases in 22 attempts. Hunter reached base safely in his first 48 games for the squad and ended the season reaching base safely in all but one. Hunter led the Arizona Rookie League in runs scored and hits, was second in batting average, third in RBI's, and tied for third in doubles.
Hunter went 0-for-3 with two walks and a run scored in the Arizona Rookie League Championship game.
He was promoted to the Eugene Emeralds on September 1, 2006. He went 4-for-15 over five games with the Ems.
