Pablo Menchaca went 3-1 with a 3.35 ERA in 13 games, including seven starts, for the AZL Padres. In 51 innings he allowed 52 hits and walked nine while striking out 39. He uncorked five wild pitches and did not allow a homer. In his seven starts he posted a 1.32 ERA and .205 average against. The opposition hit .265 off him for the year, .224 with RISP. He placed ninth in the league in ERA.
Menchaca pitched 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven in the Arizona Rookie League Championship game to get the win.
He was promoted to the Eugene Emeralds on September 1, 2006 where he pitched in one game, allowing one run over three innings.
