Matt Farrington went 2-0 with one save and a 4.07 ERA over 17 appearances for the AZL Padres. In 24.1 innings he allowed 24 hits, walked nine and struck out 22. The opposition hit .255 off him and .324 with RISP.
Farrington had his stint in Arizona broken up by several weeks when he was promoted to the Eugene Emeralds from July 5-23. He went 0-2 with a 9.82 ERA over six appearances for Eugene. In 3.2 innings he allowed seven hits and three walks while striking out two. The opposiiton hit .389 off him and .400 with RISP.

Signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Houston, Farrington was an All-Conference USA First-Team pitcher in 2005, but struggled through his senior season in 2006, posting a 5-4 record with 36 strikeouts and a 4.36 ERA in 66.0 innings.
Farrington was a two-way player for the Cougars, beginning his college career in the outfield before making the transition to the mound in his sophomore and junior seasons. By his senior year, he collected only 22 at-bats. |
