Brian Hernandez hit .258 with 24 hits in 92 at bats over 30 games for the AZL Padres. He had four doubles, 11 runs scored and 15 RBI's. He also drew nine walks while striking out ten times. Hernandez threw out 14-of-39 runners attempting to steal.
He went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the Arizona Rookie League Championship game.
Hernandez was called up to Triple-A on September 1, 2006 where he went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Brian Hernandez was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 19th round of the 2006 MLB Draft, 573rd overall.
Hernandez finished his year at Vanderbilt with a .302 batting average to go along with a team-high 21 doubles, three homers and 43 RBI. The 21 doubles tied him for fifth best in school history. A teammate of fellow prospect Matt Buschmann, he also drew 18 walks and whiffed 25 times. Defensively, he threw out eight of 27 runners attempting to steal. |
