Ray Stokes began the year with the Eugene Emeralds, hitting .186 with eight hits in 43 at bats over 11 games. He scored five runs, had one RBI, and drew three walks and struck out seven times.

Stokes hit .254 with 15 hits in 59 at bats over 21 games with the AZL Padres after being demoted. He drew 12 walks, whiffed six times while scoring nine runs and adding nine RBI's. He also stole three bases in five attempts.

Ray Stokes led the Pioneers in hitting with a .400 batting average and broke a school record with 29 stolen bases in a season. Stokes also led the Pioneers with 55 runs scored, 60 hits, 12 doubles, five triples, and a .505 on base percentage. Stokes is now the all-time steal leader in Cal State East Bay history with 59.
