Valverde hit .217 with 30 hits in 138 at bats over 40 games for the Eugene Emeralds. He added eight doubles, two homers and 24 RBI's while drawing 24 walks and striking out 25 times.

Valverde had his best season in 2006 for Alabama, as he hit .347 (76-for-219) with 12 home runs and 59 RBI. He led the Crimson Tide in home runs and was second in hitting and RBI. He was a Second-Team All-SEC selection by the league’s head coaches. |
