Biography:

Manny Ayala went 5-4 with a 4.05 ERA over 23 games, including 12 starts, for the Lake Elsinore Storm. In 91 innings he allowed 90 hits, walked 12 and struck out 71. He also tossed eight wild pitches. The opposition hit .262 off him with eight homers.

Ayala pitched in one game for the Portland Beavers, giving up two hits and striking out one in two scoreless innings.

Ayala pitched in three games for the Fort Wayne Wizards, posting a 7.56 ERA in 8.1 innings. He allowed 13 hits and walked two while striking out nine.

Notes:

Originally selected and drafted by the Mesa Miners at the Golden Baseball League Tryouts in Fullerton in December of 2004 he went on to become Rookie Pitcher of the Year in the GBL this season. He tied for the league lead in wins as he went 12-4 with a 3.05 E.R.A. in 112 innings pitched while striking out 82 batters and walking only 23. The Padres signed him on September 18, 2005.
