Brent Carter went 5-2 with a 3.62 ERA over 15 games with the Lake Elsinore Storm. including 13 starts. In 79.2 innings he allowed 83 hits, walked 11 and struck out 49.
His season ended on June 30 when he ruptured his Achilles in the ninth inning of a game versus High Desert. Carter allowed one earned run over his final 28 innings before his season was claimed.
2005
Carter went 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA in 12 innings, two starts, for Fort Wayne. He walked one while striking out 13 and held opponents to a .171 average.
Carter went 4-2 with a 1.88 ERA over 13 starts for the Eugene Emeralds. In 72 innings he allowed 58 hits and seven walks while striking out 66. He was named MadFriars.com Pitcher of the Year for Eugene.
Taken by the Padres with their 16th round pick (488 overall) in the 2005 draft.
College:
Carter was 7-4 with a 3.76 ERA in a career best 25 games as a senior, which included 10 starts. He worked 95 2/3 innings and allowed 91 hits, 46 runs and 40 earned runs, with 28 walks and 96 strikeouts.
In his four-year career, Carter appeared in 77 games, with 38 starts, for the Crimson Tide. He was 25-11 with a 3.67 ERA and seven complete games. The left-hander worked 335 2/3 innings and allowed 324 hits, 162 runs and 137 earned runs, with 73 walks and 307 strikeouts.
