Cesar Carrillo began the 2006 season in Double-A Mobile and went 1-3 with a 3.02 ERA over nine starts before being promoted to Triple-A Portland. He allowed 45 hits and 15 walks in 50.2 innings while striking out 43.
Carrillo would make just one start in Triple-A, pulled after allowing two runs on two hits and three walks in 2.2 innings dur to pain in his forearm on June 6. He would not pitch the rest of the year with soreness but did not need surgery.
2005 Right-handed pitcher Cesar Carrillo, the 18th selection in the draft by the Padres, signed for $1.55 million. As part of the deal, Carrillo started his professional career with high Single-A Lake Elsinore rather than the Padres' two short-season rookie-level clubs.
