| BECAME A CARDINAL: Traded by the Rockies with cash to the St. Louis Cardinals for pitcher Matt Burch and two players to be named later. (August 6, 2004)
The Rockies acquired Ps Chris Narveson and Luis Martinez to complete the deal on August 11, 2004.
CONTRACT STATUS: He is signed through the 2005 season.
2005 OUTLOOK: If Walker can stay healthy he can still be very productive. In just 44 games with the Cardinals he hit .280 with 11 HRs and 27 RBI. He also found a way to still steal four bases.
The Cardinals are hoping Walker can get about 475 at bats, if he can do that there is no reason not to suspect he could these kind of numbers in 05, look for a .285 - .295 batting average with 24 HRs and 90 RBI.
Nagged by injuries and a reported lack of desire to play the game and desire for excellence has recently hurt Walker's reputation. Coming to St. Louis apparently was and is a good thing for the aging slugger. Don't be surprised to see him put up some major numbers for the Cardinals.
