Portland (29-44) won 2-1 over Fresno (Giants) in game one, won 2-1 in game two
Tim Stauffer fell two outs shy of a seven-inning complete game. He yielded one run on five hits and three walks while fanning five across 6.1 innings. He also walked and scored a run. The right-hander has given up one earned over his last two starts, spanning 11.1 innings. He has kept the leadoff hitter of an inning to a .263 on-base percentage while the opposition has a .421 mark with runners in scoring position.
Josh Barfield had a pinch-hit RBI single with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh to send the Beavers home winners. The second baseman has gone 1-for-3 with two walks as a pinch-hitter. He has been on base in five straight games with two doubles and three runs scored. Barfield has an RBI in three of his last four. The pinch-hit appearance was his lone at-bat in both games.
Scott Munter held down innings three and four in the nightcap, yielding a walk in a pair of scoreless innings. He tossed 25 pitches, netting five ground ball outs. The right-hander has allowed runs in six of his 25 outings, going at least two innings on 15 occasions. Munter has held the opposition to a .103 average while averaging a better than 3-to-1 ground ball-to-fly ball ratio.
San Antonio (1-0, 36-35) won 3-2 over Corpus Christi (Astros)
On the heels of the California League All-Star appearance and named to the Futures Game, Drew Cumberland was batting leadoff in Double-A with his promotion. The shortstop went 2-for-4 but did not figure into the scoring. Cumberland hit .365 across 60 games with Lake Elsinore, notching 26 extra-base hits with 63 runs scored and 35 RBI. He also stole 20 bases in 29 attempts.
Cory Luebke yielded two runs on six hits across seven innings. The southpaw struck out five, hit a batter and notched six ground ball outs in an 87-pitch no-decision. In five starts, Luebke has given up just three earned runs. He has held right-handed hitters to a .122 average in 82 at-bats. Luebke has also given up just four hits in 29 at-bats with runners in scoring position, a .138 average.

Eugene (3-3) won 6-1 over Tri-City (Rockies)
Keyvius Sampson tossed five more scoreless innings, yielding two hits, hitting a batter and striking out a career high eight. He retired the first nine he faced and struck out the side in the fifth. The right-hander has struck out 15 batters through 10 frames in the Northwest League. He has given up just five hits across that span. He has held the opposition to a .150 average since beginning his career.
Leadoff hitter Oscar Garcia capped a five-run fourth inning with a two-run single. He also added his third hit and third RBI in the ninth. He had a tough night on the bases, however, as he was caught stealing and was hit by a batted ball. Garcia is 8-for-18 to begin the year. A 31st-round pick, the top pick heading into day three of the draft, Garcia earned first team All-Southland Conference honors this season after he led the Northwestern State with 87 hits - second most in a single-season in school history and one off of the record. He finished second on the team with a .375 batting average and topped the team with a .473 on-base percentage. He ranked as one of the toughest players in the nation to strikeout, having only struck out only 12 times in 232 at-bats.
Chris Tremblay reached base in three of his four trips, going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. The shortstop also scored a pair of runs and notched an RBI. He was thrown out trying to steal. He is 4-for-13 in Eugene after going 4-for-20 with Lake Elsinore earlier in the year. His double is one more than he had in 34 Northwest League games a season ago. Tremblay hit .227 for the Emeralds with 17 runs scored and seven RBI while drawing 17 walks for a .348 on-base percentage.
