Geer got 19 ground ball outs, including three double plays to go along with three strikeouts against one walk and four hits, only one of them for extra bases.
"I felt really good with my two-seamer and my changeup," said Geer. "Lately, I've been really trying to stay on top of the ball which I did tonight. When I drop my arm angle, the ball tends to flatten out which is when I get in trouble."
Left fielder Brad Chalk, who has been a much better hitter since being promoted to Triple-A Portland, then singled to center to bring home third baseman Lance Zawadzki. Center fielder Luis Durrango ended the scoring with a slap double down the third base line to bring home the third and final run of the inning.
The Beavers have the worst record in the PCL but Geer has won his last three decisions.
"Since May 18 we have only had three wins by our starters and all of them have been by Josh," said Portland manager Terry Kennedy. "So he is coming around when we really needed someone to step up and he did."
