Only once has he hit under .300 - hitting .281 across 129 games in the Double-A Texas League during the 2009 season.
Luis Durango walked and added a sacrifice fly before getting pulled from Sunday's game in Portland. He also stole his 18th base of the year. A .305 hitter with Portland with one extra-base hit, Durango gets on base with his speed. Long considered one of the fastest players in the system, the outfielder has struggled with determining the mechanics of thievery. He has been caught 10 times this year and is 140-for-211 in his minor league career.
Everything he has done, however, since entering the system has improved. He came in barely able to reach the infield with his arm and is now capable. His routes have improved tremendously. He has good strike zone awareness and the ability to put bat to ball.
in a brief cameo with the Padres, Durango went 6-for-11 with two walks.
