Spring Training Notebook IX

Peoria, AZ: The San Diego Padres Double-A squad was pummeled 8-3 as normally stellar pitchers were getting hit hard. Only one hit produced runs. Staying behind from Tucson, Cesar Carrillo and John Garland threw bullpens on a day that saw very little outdoor activity outside of the game. The High-A saw some quality pitching on the road.

Jon Garland threw a 30-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday and appeared confident in all of his pitches, particularly the cut-fastball that was sharp with late break.
