Surprise, AZ: The San Diego Padres went on the road to Surprise to face the Texas Rangers and came away with the win. The started off facing the Rangers top signed pick, Tanner Scheppers.

Scheppers was solid in his two innings of work, striking out four of the seven batters he faced with a wicked curveball and sharp fastball in the mid-90s. The only player to record a hit off him was Rymer Liriano, notching an infield knock that was hit up the middle of the field to the second base side.
