Chad Huffman knocked in four with a homer and another multi-hit game while Peter Ciofrone broke out of his funk. Stephen Faris leads the Texas League in the worst category possible while Cedric Hunter is heating up.

Portland (16-16) won 13-4 over Salt Lake (Angels)

Chad Huffman smacked a three-run homer - his fifth - in the eighth to cap a five-run frame that began with Kyle Blanks' eighth homer. He had three hits in five trips, scoring twice and driving in four. It is the second time in four games that Huffman has notched a four-RBI game. Huffman also has two multi-hit games in his last four after accomplishing the feat just twice over his first 24 games. Huffman is 12-for-24 in day games this season and is hitting .162 in night affairs.

Peter Ciofrone got on the board with three hits and a walk, collecting a triple, two runs scored and a pair of RBI. He was also thrown out at third in the first trying to move from first to third on a single. His three-game hitting streak tied his longest stretch of the year through 24 contests. His .170 average is the highest it has been since Opening Day. He had just one multi-hit game through his first 23 and had not scored more than once in any contest.

Jon Ellis moved to 4-0, working 2.1 scoreless innings while walking one. The right-hander struck out four and got out of a bases loaded jam with a ground out to strand three inherited runners. Ellis has stranded eight of the 10 runners he has inherited on the year, holding the opposition to six hits in 29 at-bats with runners in scoring position. Ellis has issued a walk in his last five relief appearances and seven of his last eight.

San Antonio (13-18) lost 5-2 to Corpus Christi (Astros)

Stephen Faris was tagged with his Texas League leading fifth loss of the year on Monday. The right-hander allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits and a walk while striking out three. Faris has given up 17 runs on 18 hits and seven walks across his last 12 innings, seeing his ERA go from 1.99 to 5.45. Faris has lost four straight decisions and has earned a decision in every one of his seven starts. Faris has given up a homer in four straight.

Derek McDaid was on the hook for an unearned run on three hits while striking out two across two innings and 31 pitches. The right-hander has allowed runs in eight of his 14 appearances, giving up two runs or more on six occasions. McDaid has not had a single outing this season without allowing a base runner, giving up multiple base runners 10 times.

Cedric Hunter had two hits in four trips, including a double, and scored a run. It was his third straight game with multiple hits, as the outfielder has gone 7-for-13 over that stretch. Hunter has a hit in five straight and nine of his last 10. He has scored a run in five straight as well, touching home six times. Hunter came into the game hitting .143 out of the three-hole in the lineup – where he was on Monday. He is hitting .358 when he bats elsewhere in the lineup.

Lake Elsinore (17-14) had a scheduled day off

Fort Wayne (21-9) had a scheduled day off
