Prospect Kulbacki to San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Missions announced today that outfielder Kellen Kulbacki and right-handed pitched Tim Stauffer have been added to the roster from Extended Spring Training. To make room on the roster, right-handed pitcher Chris Britton has been promoted to Triple-A Portland.

Kellen Kulbacki hit .332 (101-for-304) with 18 doubles, 20 homers and 66 RBI in 84 games for Single-A Lake Elsinore in 2008 after being promoted from Single-A Fort Wayne. He also drew 52 walks while striking out only 47 times, logging a .428 on-base percentage and .589 slugging percentage. He would have led the California League in slugging and finished second in batting, had he recorded enough at-bats to qualify.

Tim Stauffer is a former first-round pick (4th overall) from the 2003 draft. He has pitched parts of three seasons (2005-07) with the Padres, but missed all of 2008 after undergoing right shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum. He is 29-27 with a 4.34 ERA (254 ER/527.0 IP) in 94 Minor League games (87 starts), and 4-7 with a 6.37 ERA (67 ER/94.2 IP) in 18 Major League games (17 starts).

Christopher Britton went 1-1 with a 10.80 ERA (18 ER/15.0 IP) in 10 relief appearances with the Missions in 2009. Missions infielder Eric Sogard remains on the Seven-Day Disabled List, but is eligible to come back beginning today.
