The Storm hit three homers in the span of six batters, seeing Brian Joynt hit the first homer – a two-run blast with no outs in the fifth. Kellen Kulbacki hit his second of the playoffs in back-to-back variety and Robbie Blauer smashed a solo shot to open the sixth. Every player in the starting lineup had a hit and eight different players scored a run.
Sam Carter had three hits – smacking a pair of doubles – while scoring twice and driving in two. The outfielder doubled in a run and scored in the second and singled in a run and scored in the ninth. Carter, who was third on the team during the regular season with 82 Rbis, is 5-for-12 in the playoffs with three extra base hits and three RBIs.
Mitch Canham reached base three times with two hits, including his third double of the playoffs, and a walk. He scored a run and drove in three, singling in two in the second and doubling in a pair in the ninth – although one second inning run was due to an error and stole an RBI from him. The catcher is hitting .545 with six hits in 11 at-bats during the playoffs, posting an on-base percentage of .643.
Robert Woodard supplied two innings of scoreless relief after Cesar Carrillo was tagged for six runs over four frames. Woodard allowed one hit and struck out one in the outing to pick up the win, as the bullpen worked five scoreless frames. The right-hander posted a 2.45 ERA across 15 outings with the Storm during the regular season, allowing 19 hits while striking out 25 in 29.2 innings.
