Eugene won 4-3 over Everett (Mariners) in 10 innings
Northwest League MVP Dan Robertson broke a 36-year-old record on Tuesday, notching four hits, including a double, to give him 114 hits for the season and net all but two of the Ems hits. His double in the ninth inning snapped the Northwest League hit record set by James Buckner in 1972. Robertson was thrown out at home and caught stealing for the seventh time this year. It is the 11th time this season he has netted three or more hits and the outfielder has reached base 148 times in 72 contests.
Matt Clark scored the first two Emerald runs without the benefit of a hit, walking and scoring on a wild pitch in the second and reaching on an error and scoring on a ground out in the fourth. It was the fourth time in 37 games that he has scored multiple times, three occurring over his last seven contests. His second error of the game led to two unearned runs. The first baseman has had three games with two errors this season.
Cole Figueroa walked and scored the winning run in the bottom of the tenth on a wild pitch. The shortstop scored twice without the benefit of a hit and committed his sixth error of the year. He drew a pair of walks – the sixth time this year he has drawn multiple free passes. He is sporting a 23-to-16 walk-to-strikeout ratio. He has scored two or more times five times this season.
