Ambres, Carlin to Padres

MadFriars.com has learned the outfielder Chip Ambres and catcher Luke Carlin are on their way to San Diego to join the Padres as September call-ups.

Both Chip Ambres and Luke Carlin have spent time in San Diego this season.

Ambres went 2-for-17 in his first stint with the Padres across eight games, drawing two walks and fanning eight times.

In Portland, Ambres led the squad with 22 homers, seven triples and 56 extra base hits across 112 games, hitting .279 with a .368 on-base percentage.

Carlin has had two previous stints with the Padres, hitting .154 across 33 games. He had five extra base hits, six RBIs and 12 runs scored, drawing nine walks while striking out 32 times. Carlin threw out 7-of-32 base runners attempting to steal.

The backstop hit .261 across 31 games with the Beavers, drawing 19 walks and posting a .396 on-base percentage.
