Playing this season in Double-A San Antonio, Sean Kazmar has amassed a .264 average over 111 games. He began the season hitting .198 over his first 48 games before hitting .314 over his next 63 games, including a .368 average over his last 10 games.
Playing shortstop regularly for the first time since being drafted, Kamzar led the Texas League in fielding percentage among shortstops with a .964 fielding percentage, committing 18 errors in 495 total chances. Until late last season, Kazmar had played mostly at second base.
A subsequent move will be made by the Padres, presumably putting Bryan Corey on the disabled list.
